What is an ‘eco life’?
June 2, 2008 by admin
The simple definition of ‘ecolife‘ is living a life where you are aware of your impact on the planet. A life where you make choices to reduce your impacts and support companies/products/people that do likewise. Obviously that is not a perfect definition but that’s my humble opinion at 7:24am on a Saturday morning the day before my daughter’s third birthday.
When my daughter, Kaya, is my age the planet is going to probably look a lot different. It sure looks different than when I was a kid. Growing up, you could eat snow, go in the ocean after a rain, and ski until May. I remember one of my fondest memories was sitting outside of my grandmother’s house in the rain and tasting the rain as it fell from the sky. I was 5. Can you imagine that now?
The great news is that as a collective society we are waking up to the damage we are doing. I am reminded of that every time I see someone at the grocery store with their own bags or see a Prius. I might be an eternal optimist (stop laughing) but I do think we can turn this around.
The best part is that trifecta of being ‘green’ is that it is easy, healthy, and less expensive. Living a so called ‘easy green life’ WILL be easy, WILL save you money and WILL make you healthier. More on this in another post.
So, what do I do? What is ecolife consulting?
My goal is to teach the concepts of ‘ecolife’ to everyone who is interested-from architects/developers to companies to homeowners.
The key parts to being green or living eco-friendly (or whatever else you call it) are:
1. Make intelligent choices in how you build/create a work/home space.
2. Create a space that enhances your health naturally with as few impacts as possible. Remember healthy living costs you less money overall.
3. Conserve when you can, live like a monk if you must.
4. Use smart power, less water and less plastic.
More on all of the above to follow. After all, this is an exciting time and definitions and ideas are changing and morphing as we speak. Thanks for being part of the conversation.

*Also, bear with me on these posts, I am tech savvy to a degree but plan on seeing some grammatical errors, formatting mistakes, etc. I care more about the message than the font.
